Gig Harbor, also known as the “Gateway to the Olympic Peninsula,” was given its name in 1840 by Captain Charles Wilkes. Wilkes navigated his captains “gig” (small boat) into the harbor during stormy weather for protection. When his map of the Oregon Territory came out in 1841, he named the area Gig Harbor.
With its densely forested landscapes, continued growth and expansion, and close proximity to the water, Gig Harbor homes and businesses have a high potential of being infested with various pests. Some of the most common pests we see in the area include rats, spiders, ants and dampwood termites.
The last decade has seen the need for pest control in Gig Harbor grow considerably. Many new stores, restaurants, businesses, and housing developments have cropped up, displacing rodents and other insects that once lived in those areas. While growth has a positive impact on various aspects of a community, pest control becomes more and more important as neighborhoods expand. Established buildings will see an increase in pest activity, and newly-built structures will need to begin their pest protection regimen. We are your local experts, and we would love the opportunity to help keep our friends and neighbors safe, happy, and healthy!
Gig Harbor boasts many densely forested areas, making for lots of privacy and beautiful scenery. Ants, spiders and rodents rely heavily on these same wooded areas for food and harborage. Homes and businesses in Gig Harbor are often surrounded by natural landscapes, and should be protected from harmful pests. Sentinel Pest Control has worked closely with the Gig Harbor Chamber of Commerce, Gig Harbor City Officials, local business leaders, and homeowners to be proactive in keeping the community safe and healthy.
