With many of its homes sitting on the edge of Lake Burien and the Puget Sound, insects such as Cockroaches and Silverfish are a common occurrence. Both of these pests are normally attracted by excess moisture in your home, making their way through cracks or spaces between your home’s foundation, doors, or windows. While cockroaches are more likely to be seen in kitchens contaminating food items, Silverfish tend to be found in basements or crawlspaces, eating stored goods, fabrics from clothing, and various fibrous belongings such as books and magazines.
Stinging insects are also quite common in Burien during the summer. While honeybees and mason bees are harmless if left alone, hornets, wasps, and yellow jackets can be extremely aggressive, and pose a major threat to your family and pets if provoked. These pests are very tenacious and can become a major hazard if allowed to nest near or on your home or business.
