Bed bugs have been on the rise in Washington for the last several years. These resilient hitchhikers will often attach themselves to clothing or other personal items to travel to new nesting locations where the proceed to nest in furniture and feed on our blood. As a city that is easily accessible via plane, Amtrak, train, bus, and car, Everett unfortunately is also quite accessible to bed bugs.
Rodents are also a concern in Everett. Like with many port cities, black rats can be seen to be scavenging near piers, docks, and other similar areas that provide ample food, water, and shelter. Similarly, Norway rats (or brown rats) and house mice are often found in more densely packed urban environments, making their way into anywhere containing food. Despite not being aggressive, most rodents are incredibly unsanitary and can spread a variety of diseases and other smaller pests.
Ants are another common pest found across Washington. These extremely persistent and prevalent pests can range from minor nuisance to major threat to your property. While species such as the aptly named Odorous House Ant are typically found scavenging for food and water near kitchens or bathrooms, Carpenter Ants are very destructive and can cause significant damage to the wooden structural components of your home or business.
