Many of Vashon’s small farms struggle with rodent and fly problems as a result of the various conducive conditions that go hand-in-hand with farm life. Manure, livestock and their feed, hay fields, and the use of irrigation are all factors we consider when coming up with a solution to your pest issues.
Vashon-Maury Island contains several large tracts of forested areas, and a number of fresh water ponds including Fisher Pond, a 90-acre fresh water conservancy. These vast forested areas coupled with fresh water make Vashon perfect for carpenter ants, termites, and sugar ants. Carpenter ants and termites do a wonderful job of clearing the forest floor, but can wreak havoc on a building, causing structural damage. Odorous house ants (also known as sugar ants) don’t cause structural damage, but can be a huge nuisance pest.
